James……. I feel very very fortunate to have been able to help capture the beauty of Rainy lake, and unleash this once under the radar fishing to the sticks here on IDO!! It goes without saying that Rainy Lake is a GEM of a fishery offering world class fishing for Walleyes, Pike, Muskie, Crappies and Smallmouth Bass, but what I hear all summer and winter long is Voyageurs National Park is one of the most beautiful masses of untamed Wilderness in the WORLD. Exploring the natural beauties within the cofines of the state of Minnesota (only a 5 hour drive from the Twin Cities area) is unequalled when crusing in one of Rainy Lakes Houseboats. I know James you and Cheryl felt the same as my family……….KING OF THE WORLD when churning through the Brule on our way East!!Lindsey and Cheryl absolutely cannot wait to board another floating condo this summer. I would highly recommend to everyone not to only raly their boys for this years houseboat excursion in September, but be the hero of your family this summer by renting a Rainy Lake Houseboat. Billy, Kathy, Tommy, Wendy, Joey and the rest of the RLHB have many plans and boats to choose from to make sure your trip is not only the trip of the summer, but possibly of your lifetime. These guys flat out take care of you. Case in point my buddy Andy took my recommendations taking his family up here. Andy lost his anchor in one of Rainy Lakes Anchor eating boulder piles. He called into Rainy Lake Marine, and Billy who didn’t want Andy to miss a couple HOURS of fishing took his personal anchor out of his boat, and let him use it until he could get it replaced. That is service, and moreover shows Rainy Lake Houseboats will bend over backwards to make it happen for you! For all of those who decide this is the year to explore the Rainy Lake fishery, be sure to mention you watched our television show on In Depth Outdoors. They love IDO BOYS!! They are a very appreciated site Sponsor! I’d like to personally thank Rainy Lake Houseboats for choosing In Depth Outdoors, Our Staff, and our unbelievable In Depth Anglers to showcase their business here in Borderland!

Been there done that, what a great time. Just put your stuff where the bears can’t get it. Many of the islands you tie up to will have bear proof boxes available. Use them.

That show was great! You and James got me thinking I need to save up a months salary and secure my dates. That looked like a blast! How late into the fall are the rentals available???

Thanks!! I can probably speak for James too in that we hope everyone enjoys the show as much as we enjoyed filming it. Not really like work I’m not going to lie!! Keep in mind there are still some open spot for individuals as well as I believe a couple full houseboats for our second annual In Depth Outdoors Houseboat excursion with Rainy Lake Houseboats. That is to be held September 15th-19th. September is flat out AWESOME fishing, and a majestic time to be touring through Voyageurs National Park!! Give James or I a shout for any Houseboat excursion questions in which there is a thread for in the General Discussion forum, or give Rainy Lake Houseboats a phone call for other dates for your group!! Love to have you up!!

Great job guys! You can tell people all you want about Rainy Lake, the fishing scenery, and fun, but it makes a real impression when you can see it first hand in a quality show .

We look for to working with IDO in the future, last falls outing was unbelievable, great guys, and good fishing. If I can be of any help guys feel free to contact me. We are just touching the tip of the iceberg as to what Rainy Lake and Rainy Lake Houseboats has to offer.

Fishing is pretty good right now, taking about a five to six mile snowmobile run for the walleyes and northerns. You can fish pike year around and walleyes thru April 14th. The last 45 days can be some of the best ice fishing of the year. I will be in the Rainy Lake Houseboat booth at the Milwaukee Sun Sentinel Sport March 10-14 and at Minneapolis Northwest Sportshow March 24-28th . If any of you are going to the shows stop in for a visit.

Your exactly right Billy. People who spend any length of time on Rainy Lake are hooked for life. Pictures can only show so much, a television show is much better, but planning your trip up here is the best!! I feel a stay in a houseboat is simply first class all the way, and not having to drive back and forth to further away awesome fishing destinations makes a houseboat a perfect match for all fisherman!! I’ve enjoyed being able to fish with Billy this winter, and I can tell you this guy has the passion for fishing, and just a heck of a fun guy to be around. So nice to have you on here Billy as you are a wealth of information for all of our members. I can tell you Rainy Lake is no secret on this site, and there is no doubt you’ll see many of our members up here in the very near future!!

A Rainy Lake House Boat vacation on Rainy Lake is something like nothing else, and this film captures it all. The Dougherty Family & staff at Rainy Lake House Boats are wonderful and make you feel like you are right at home, of course upon entering a house boat you realise that this is not an normal camping trip; no setting up tents, no blowing up air mattreses, no hauling coolers from the boat to your camping site, and no late night walks threw the woods to the bathroom. You do of course still get to take it starry nights on Rainy Lake.

You guys made my cabin fever even worse with this video

I hear ya Laura!! I must be getting soft as the Houseboat scened sure seems pretty attractive over a tent right now!! LOL!! I think we’re all getting fired up for some open water. Here is a little motivation for late ice!! Yesterdays 2lb 9 oz. Ri-Donk-ulous slab!!
