Walleyes have slowed over the past few days, so instead of beating our heads into the wall we’ve focused energies on big Slabs!! Today while searching some new US areas, I iced 30 slabs in about 5 hours of flat out action packed fishing along with a few bonus walleyes, and 1 nice pike. Pink Diamond Jig from Custom Jigs and Spins packed with Euro’s was all I used. Kept a limit of 11.5-13 inch fish for a nice fish fry!!

LOL!! I just noticed while loading the pics that there was a SLAB waiting for me above my Zoom on my LX-5!! DANG IT! Today most of my fish were coming in off the bottom, so I had left the zoom on a bottom lock……Apparently my photo session cost me!! LOL!! Oh well!! Can’t complain!! Great day on the ice!!

Dang! Must be “rough” living in God’s Country and being able to enjoy the unbelievable resource you have… Nice work!

Never gets old. I had some friends, and family up last weekend. They asked if guiding ever gets old?? With the change of the seasons, and multiple fish to chase…….I can honestly say NO. Never gets old, and we feel very fortunate not only to have the infamous Rainy Lake, but countless other magnificent fisheries at our fingertips. Likely won’t ever fish it all, but we’ll try!!

I’m off to tangle with some Smallies tomorrow. Actually chasing more big Slabs, but I’m pretty sure there will be some “Big Brown Fish” lurking also. Trust me they can double over the Daze Noodle rod!! I love fishing a bit overmatched on the sheet especially when CPR is the endgame regardless.

Looks like a blast, I look forward to getting into some of that action in march!
