I saw your post in the Upper Red Lake forum and it dawned on me that I should check to see how the road to the east end is coming? You’ll have that all plowed out in time for our little vacation next week, right?

How’s the ice and slush situation up there? We going to be able to move around this year without having to surf-skid across massive patches of sledding devouring slush?

    Bring it!

Actually the plan is to head to the east end and since neither Chris or I have ever been on the far side of the Brule who knows what the heck we’ll run into.

After reading this post I don’t think there will be much slush unless the got a heck of a lot of snow.

I know they got at least one good dumping last week.

Last year when we were up there it was 25 degrees below zero the entire time and the slush was so bad you had to be really careful where you stopped your sled or it turned into an instant ice cube. Both Chris and I spent more way too much time busting ice out of the tracks so we could get back underway. I’d rather not repeat that experience if I could avoid it.

Of course, on the other hand, the fishing was awesome so maybe it was all worth it.

Look for a two up Artic Cat pulling an Otter Resort and Otter Cabin in tandem and that’d be me.

Now, that sounds like an adventure! I’ve only snowmobiled it in the winter, but I’ve always wanted to try to fish that way.

Great luck on the warming weather! I’m excited for a trip myself in that direction.
