I do target these Pout Cal. It is my understanding that Pout spawn during the winter months. Thus locating productive spawning grounds for these beasts will allow some nice low light action. They can be caught mid-day, but I believe these fish hold deeper than most walleyes are. Come evening and nighttime these fish will move into a lot of good walleye structure.
Last year we landed a 38 inch 14lb pout. I believe the state record is around 19lbs. A friend iced a 16lb bruiser. There here and great tablefare also!!
