In the Spirit of Christmas Rainydaze Guide Service along with Rainy Lake Houseboats want to give back this year by attempting to help out financially with our Salvation Army.

This morning I talked with Beverly Mayfield who heads our local Salvation Army responsible for all of Koochiching county, and told her of our plans. She is faced with a very daunting task this year. She was absolutely thrilled that along with In Depth Outdoors we as fisherman would like to join forces for a just cause in the name of giving. The need as so many of us are experiencing is far greater this year due to the state of our economy. I’ve felt I would be far more valuable organizing this drive than I would be by simply writing out a check this holiday season.

From Rainydaze Guide Service we will be donating 10% of all gift certificates or pre-paid trips received between now and December 31st. Gift Certificates can be used for trips or Daze Gear over the next year (Hardwater or Openwater), so if you would like to share a spot in my New Skeeter Boat this open water season here is one MORE reason why.

As I talked to Billy from Rainy Lake Houseboats he also was very interested in helping out in anyway he could, and has offered to donate 5% of all his pre-booked trips that take place between today Friday December 11th and December 31st!! (Our Annual In Depth Outdoors Excursion Is Excluded from this offer as this is already a very special package for us.) Please be sure to mention to the staff of Rainy Lake Houseboats that you heard of this through In Depth Outdoors. If you haven’t booked your Houseboat adventure better rally the fisherman soon!! There is NO better way to experience the world class fishing of Rainy Lake inside of Voyageurs National Park than in one of these floating CONDOS!! Absolutely an incredible experience, and a top notch staff!!

On the behalf of Rainydaze Guide Service, Rainy Lake Houseboats, and In Depth Outdoors I hope to be able to hand a nice check outside of the “SLOT” to a very worthy local charity in our very own Salvation Army!!

Special thanks go to James Holst and Joel Nelson for all your help!! You 2 continue to lead this group of Staff, Fisherman and sponsors with grace and class. I’m proud to be a contributor to this wealth of knowledge and fun!!

Lastly I’d like to Thank “In Depth Outdoors” sponsor Dave Marquardt from the Skeeter Boat Center for his $200.00 start up donation!! Funny thing about Dave I thought many might be interested to know. Dave was calling me to organize things with me on my new guide boat expected to be delivered late March. Nobody is more detail orientated than Dave and Dan at the SBC!! I asked to bend his ear for a minute on this charity drive, as I know he is a dominate player when it comes to giving back. He immediately offered me $$ in the name of our wonderful site and membership. I assured him that NO…No….That isn’t what I’m looking for, but he insisted to donate the $$ even though his dealership is far removed from this area. Kudos Dave for your generosity!! You are a classy individual, and even if you didn’t sell the best walleye fishing boat being produced……I’d work with you anyway!!

In closing we want to recognize anyone booking trips with myself or Rainylake Houseboats by including your name and/or business here on this site if interested, and also submit this information to Beverly at the Salvation Army. Borderland attracts thousands of fisherman each year, and through the fierce efforts of In Depth Outdoors this number is rising rapidly. I want to personally thank In Depth Outdoors for the recognition this fishery deserves. Our area economy as a whole is greatly effected by the In Depth Oudoors Television show, and the consistent online press!!

Thanks in advance for all those contributing to this cause. If your planning on fishing Rainy Lake this year, and would like the services of myself and/or Rainy Lake Houseboats this is a great time to lock up your trip!! Hardwater or Open water We’ve got you covered!! Fish Fear us!!

Heartily endorse your efforts to help the Salvation Army and other chrities especially this year. They have assisted our family more than once and helped me find holiday employment. Be sure do dig deep into your change pocket, too, when you guys walk past the kettles.

I would like to personally commend both Chris and Bill for their generosity during this Christmas Season. Some of us are insulated from the tough economy, but many more are not. It only takes a trip to the local food shelf or Goodwill center to see that the need is there this year more than ever.

Chris is one of the busiest guides in the northwoods, and to take the time to organize this effort is admirable at the very least.

Many of us on this site travel to faraway destinations like Rainy Lake to fish or hunt. When doing so, it’s important to remember the local economy we recreate in, to keep these opportunities we all love and enjoy possible. This year and this promotion, provides us that opportunity to give back while purchasing a phenomenal fishing trip at a world-class angling destination to boot.

Thanks Chris/Bill for the win/win, and everyone let’s spread the word near and far!

    Joel

    Thanks Guys.

Really this is all about trying to make a difference. As I told Beverly I don’t know if 1 trip will be booked over this timeframe or 10, but we’ll put the effort forward to see what we can do. I hope to be able to bring Beverly a nice little check that she can put to use. I know this would only be a small portion of the $$ she needs to effectively do her job with helping families, but if you add enough Small portions up it can be a big help. Really in all honesty my hopes are from just one fishing guide, and now Rainy Lake Houseboats to create a movement to try give back this season.

I’ve actually been extending this offer to others looking to book that haven’t seen this post, so hopefully we can get something rolling!!

I’d like to thank John Sells from Edina Realty for donating to our local Salvation army on our In Depth Outdoors/Rainydaze guide service/Rainy Lake Houseboat Charity drive. Will be running this drive for another week, so if you are looking on coming up it isn’t going to cost you any extra. I know it is going to a great cause. I’m going to ask Beverly if there is anyway they could draw a families name out of the hat for a guided trip as well. I know we all have needs, and we all have wants. Be fun to help with both!!

Great fishing with you John!! Look forward to getting out on the ice with you again soon!! Still can see those big walleyes illuminated under the ice!! Sight to behold!!
