Don’t fish without a FLASHER!!

Thought this might be valuable for anglers heading to Rainy Lake this winter. The Rainy Lake One Stop in which most of my customers pick up their respective bait and tackle before heading out on the ice also rents FLASHERS!!! I just talked to Laura, and I believe they rent them for only $15.00 per day (RUKIDDING ME), but you can call Laura to confirm. I believe they only have a few units, so it would be very wise to call them to reserve your units for your crew. I would highly encourage ALL fisherman to utilize Flashers as it gives the anglers a distinct advantage being able to scan the water column while reading the mood of the fish. Last year on big groups I guided often we took all the flashers they have, so get on the stick. On a secondary note the One Stop will be carrying the RAINYDAZE ENDORSED INFAMOUS……….Lightning spoons!! Last year 90% of our Pig walleyes came on these spoons, and it almost pains me to give out such a secret weapon!! LOL!! Oh….They have the right ones too!!

Laura at the One Stop Shop took unbelievable care of the Ido crew, supplying thousands of dollars of bait and tackle to our 1st annual houseboat excursion without incident. Make no doubt the One Stop Shop will get you GEARED up for your Ice Adventure!! Flashers, Tackle, Bait,Gas, Propane, Groceries, Clothing, Gifts….They’ve got it all!! And even more impressive is you’ll experience a nice smile with your morning coffee!! Get it all taken care of in one stop……QUICKLY!! then get on the ice!

    Welcome Rainy One Stop!

At $10/day if a guy only fishes once or twice a year the rental is definitely the way to go.

Now… the question of the day… how’s the ice coming along?

Ice check? And yes even teenage daughters can get in the groove by getting the old man H2oc on black friday for a 100 off so we could go fishing instead.

First off GREAT DEAL on the electronics Laura!! “ONE STOP CHICK!!” That is stellar, and you can bet I’ll be taking you up on that with large groups.

Ice………Lake has locked up with minimal snow cover on the main lake. Cold as a Frozen Pout left on the ice overnight right now. IF……We remain cold with little snowfall we’ll be walking out pretty soon. I’ll keep you updated.

Lastly NO NO to Disney world. Yes for Coconut Drinks, Swimsuits, Fried Pickles, Mimosas and a Farewell hug to the family until Ice Season ends!! Now lets ROLL!!

Oh…….BTW Taking sharks off the hook IS more tricky that Giant Pike and Walleyes!!

So Im a little late on the post… We had computer guys up redoing our tills all last week and it was madness around here and things are finally back to normal!
    Ice Report-
12 inches as of yesterday in Sandbay, Rainy Lake Marina dropped of their seasonal Rainy Lake ice access permits; they hope to have the road open and running by the end of next week. The Park check ice conditions for the snowmobile trail and they hope to have the trail staked by next week. No reports from the park on the ice road yet.
I’ll try and be more timly on my next post

    Thanks Laura!! Great information.

Glad you got that computer rolling again. Yes the Ice is looking very nice. Some of the best clear ice I’ve seen for many years early in the year. AS always remain cautious, but things are looking great. AND THE FISH ARE BITING!! How’s the bait supply looking for the upcoming weeks Laura?? Also do you have dates that are open for renting a flasher for those coming up who’d like to try one?

This morning felt like a real winter morning, a light dusting of snow, fishermen wating at the doors to come in and get their minnows and hot coffee . At the moment we have
Chubs and Heavy Northern, but tonight we will add Rosies and Crappie to the list. We are crossing our fingers that next week we can make a trip down to our other bait dealer to get some shiners.
Our Vexilars are open the next two weekends, but come January we have at least one vexilar out everyweekend, so that means we have one vexilar open for rental. Give Rainy Lake One Stop a call (218) 286-5700 to see if we have one availabe for your fishing dates.

Thanks Laura!! Yes the bite is really going, and I’d expect you’ll be plenty busy this weekend. Can fisherman call to reserve the flashers with say a credit card # or something? For those who might not know where the Rainy Lake One Stop is located; It is right off Hwy 11 on your way to the lake on your right hand side. Very convienent location. They also do Propane fill ups to fellas!!
