Settle down…. Just a little skim was broken up to access some of the most unbelievable fishing you’ll see all year at least until Jan/Feb rolls around!!

Few interesting points from yesterdays BEATDOWN!! GO BIG in the fall right?? Sometimes you need to GO……SMALL. Had some big fish pinned down pulling them out Yogi Bear style when the wind STOPPED. Anchor lay slack in the water, and the fish flat out shut down even though they were stacked like wood by my boiler. I switched up to small fatheads and a 1/8 oz. Lime/Chart jig, and almost immediately the the conveyer belt was put back in motion!! Another key worth noting is sometimes throughout the day an angler needs to vary methods of jigging when the bite turns sour. Those fish definately went from aggressive to NUETRAL to OK…….I give up!! We basically employed the lift and hold technique which involves dropping the jig to the bottom and the tightening your line up and holding still. LIGHTS OUT FOR YOU!! Even full walleyes like little snacks to top off the main meal!! A BIG SHOUT OUT to H20 Precision jigs for once again saving the day, and keeping our hours on the water ultra effective. So many jig companies producing smaller weighted jigs use wimpy hooks. Those 1/8 oz. H20 jigs were critical tools in our Walleye tool box yesterday, and trust me they boated many of BIG fish with NO BEND OUTS!! NICE!!

We were fortunate enough to get into a nice slab bite at the same time we were boating walleyes and pike!! Does it get any better?? Biggest eye was 26 inches and crappies 13-14. No big pike, but 4 nice 4-6lb fish.

    Aaaaaaah FALL!!

Way to stay after them Chris.

Poor Luke probably read the title of your post and grabbed a rod and auger and headed your way.

LOL!! I think we’re all getting the itch!! “ICE ITCH” It’s a good thing. I’ve got a couple weeks left before I winterize the Casket, and oil up the Rem.270 for Deer Camp!! Just the otherday I sat in the permanent rental houses awaiting their tour of duty for this Ice Fishing season. No action, but fun nonetheless!! LOL!! Something about the hum of the flashers, and watching those big blobs chasing you down!! Fighting big walleyes on litte Ice Sticks is quite a thrill!! By the way Congrats on your new Skeeter Ben!! Very nice boat!! Those fish don’t stand a chance now!! The fishability out of those Skeeters is unequalled!! I’m pretty sure the walleye population was happy to see your crews departure after our 1st annual IDO/Rainy Lake Houseboat excursion!! Can’t even imagine next year after you’ve got a little Lake knowledge in your corner!! Just imagine if we would have had some Fall weather and water temps!!
