with the crazy water temps this year its been tough for me to stay on fish…i had 73 degrees in black bay a week and a half ago..then by last wendsday it was down to 54.5 degrees and last night it was 69 degrees. but it pays to keep at it…the walleyes seem to be a fairly steady bite right now so if the crappies arent goin, i go get some of them!!! this lake is awsome! and the fish are huge!!!

Those will make a very nice main course. Way to go Z85CHEVY. We have had a case of the roller coaster water temperatures also, a cold front with a cool rain will really bring that water temp down fast.

    nice creel

Nice Crappies 85!! I haven’t been back in there, but know some older fellas hook those crappies all summer doing the same thing you mentioned!! I bet you hooked a few nice walleyes doing the same thing!! They Make that can of Dr.Pepper look pretty small!!

Seriously though those are nice crappies! They sure don’t look like that down here in the cities.

    Hey Sharon,

Crappies upwards of 2lbs are not uncommon. Last year our 3 biggest were over 16 inches with the biggest slab measuring 16.5 inches weighing 2lbs 9oz!! We’ll have to start putting 2liter bottles next to the papermouths!!

    hey chris!

as usual you are right on…one night we got 6 14 to 16 inch walleyes in there with 4-5 crappies mixed in, and the next night we got a limit of 12 to 15 inch crappies!!! then last night we got 9, 4 walleyes and 5 crappies…didnt keep any though…i only keep fish if im going to eat them that night or the next day, the look on the boys face when he had to throw back his 14.5 inch crappie was like i just shot his dog or something…yet a good lesson to learn young. still looking for the old elusive 16 incher…
p.s. that is a 2×12 board in the picture above…
