We’ve really focused in on the Jig and Minnow bite right now, and are really popping some awesome fish in deep current breaks.

    Hey Z85,

As you’ve probably noticed the rapidly increasing water temps have moved the big fish pretty fast now. We’ve been doing well 24-38 f.o.w. depending on light conditions and prevailing winds. As you’ve probably notice there is a good flow right now with our water being a bit high. With increased flow you will find current breaks or Natural wing dams in many areas. Most of the bigger fish don’t like to fight the flow, but are realize this is like a food elevator bringing in fresh treats all day. Now that the warmer waters have reached much of the earlier transition areas that is a pretty reliable pattern until these fish push to the mid-summer haunts.

Z85 you’ve been doing very very well for being new to the lake, and we greatly appreciate your pics/posts!! I’m sure it won’t take you long to be back on the milk run!!

The great thing about Rainy is once you think you’ve got it figured out you go through times like your going through right now scratching your head!! Everyone has been there including myself many many many times!! Hmnnnn……Where R U Hiding now!! LOL!! Being on the water 7 days a week allows guys like myself to watch the movements taking place, and transition as numbers are dwindling in previos honey holes. Anglers of all levels are constantly reminded how vast 220,000 acres of water can be. Very Very vast!! And as you know a pile-O-Dead water too!! I try learn something everyday I’m on the water good or bad. Often times I’ll spend 30 minutes trying something new whether it be a spot or a technique. More often than not it is unproductive, but SOMETIMES……..You guessed it Very rewarding!!
