Fishing is HOT HOT HOT right now ladies and gentlemen. Contact your employer and takes a weeks vacation and come up and visit the fine folks at Woody’s Rainy Lake Resort or the Falls Motel.

We found great walleye fishing, with alot of 19.5″ to 23″ fish. Shallow bays on Rainy had water temps holding steady at 53 degrees, Main lakes temps varied, but mostly 46-48 degrees. The Rainy River was holding temps steady at 46 degrees. A good majority of the fish that we found were in shallow water, and most of the males were still milting. Presentation didn’t seem to matter too much, but orange and yellow colors were preferred on both the lake and the river.

Tried for crappies on Wednesday, but water temps still are not warm enough for a steady crappie bite. Looking at the weather forecast I predict the crappies will start middle of next week. That is assuming we get nice sunny days without the winds that we experienced Wednesday and Thursday.

Here is just a couple of photos from the last couple days.
