Well big shout out to my guide customers today for letting the Captain put the hooks to one. Most of the day I effectively kept weeding out the smaller pike for you!! UNTIL…..This beast ripped drag out, and we quickly had to get on the electric to avoid being spooled. I hollered OK….THIS is a BIG BIG fish!! This beautiful fish weighed just under 21lbs!! Fish was carefully Cpr’d!! Thanks Matt for the efficient net Job testing the structural integrity of the Beckman net!!

Every season has trophy fish vulnerable to anglers. Customers who fish with me know that I like to target trophy fish whether that be Walleye, Pike, Crappies, Smallies or even Gils on area lakes. Right now Walleye and Pike combination trips are building memories for many anglers. Next years calendar is already starting to book up for this bite!! Kudos to all anglers that enjoy catching the biggest and baddest fish around while releasing them to grow even larger. That fish was not incredibly long at just shy of 42 inches(Not close to my PB measuring 46.5), but Freakishly heavy, and has the obvious genetic make up to be the next 30lb pike!! BUT ONLY if the Daze fish Casket is opened to let her go!! The Thrill of catching 15-20lb fish is unbelievable. Our customers have been advised to spool up medium strength spinning gear on these awesome fish. We’ve got a few wide eyed looks as even with these large pike I haven’t found the need to use Gappling sized hooks and Muskie rods!! Even that pike was effectively fought/caught/photo’d and released in a very timely fashion to ensure we don’t harm the fish. Only a temporary stay in the Daze Fish Casket!! Then it was a Daze R.I.P. (Released in Peace). That is a trophy fish that many would kill to put on the wall, but there is a serious satisfaction conquering yet releasing. BTW I am very dilligent in getting high quality photos of customers trophy fish as well as my own, so if replicas are to be produced your taxidermist has a great photo to go from!! I should also mention that it is wise to carry all necessary items such as tape measure and scale in the boat so your taxidermist can most accurately reproduce your personal trophy!!

Thanks Dad!! I’ll see if I can get you off the “Work Train” for a couple hours to get you on some fish!! LOL!! The caliber of fish Rainy Lake is producing right now is flat out staggering!! I had a customer email me the otherday saying he was told that to get big pike you definately needed to go to Canada!! LOL!!………LOL!!! We’re closing in on 40 pike that have exceeded 10lbs thus far during our open water season!! Guests have quickly discovered Trophy fishing for Pike is in their backyards of Minnesota!! Hoping to land a 25lb plus fish this year!! Maybe today!!

LOL!! That would be a lot of Pickled Pike!! Trust me I love pickled fish, and 5-6lb pike are very good for the process!!!

The Monster Pike Pattern has remained very strong. Todays 5 pike over 10lbs brought the early open water season totals to 40 over 10lbs!! Today we got close to putting another one over 20lbs with this nice 18.5lb Girl along with 2 other pike hovering at the 16-17lb mark!!! Great fishing with you over the past couple days Guys!!! Look forward to next years trip!! Got your dates locked in!! Congrats on all the awesome fish!!

big fish is right!!! look at that beast! my cousin loves to pike fish and he got a 39 incher (in my previous post) and yesterday he wanted to try for another pike before he headed back to the cities…he got a fat 41 incher! we fished pike for a total of 2 hours this weekend and got 2 whales! both released…by the way…the 41 incher slammed his face in the mud twice!! with 65lb braid could not budge him from the muck….we were directly above the fish and could see his tail and the other half in the mud and after 5 minuites of steady pressure she got out just to do it again…after a few minuites it came out again! what a cool fight!! one of the most memorable ones for sure!

Daze took a solid 2nd Place in that battle!! Boy you have to love those giant Gators. We also landed some slot walleyes shallow up the lake today on stickbaits. Fun time had be the entire crew!! No Rain even!!
