I saw just tooooo many big Pike from posts made by Kelly (bassbuster1), and Chris (R.Daze), that I just had to work out a short but quick trip up north this week.
The weather was probably the 2 worst of the week. It rained all day, Tuesday afternoon, and Wed had winds up to 35 mph. Thurs a.m. we were thinking about fishng for 4 hours, then leave for home, but after snow and ice in the early a.m., and 28 degrees, I thought it was too tough, so we sleep in, and left for home late morning.
Tuesday we caught 15 to 18 Northerns, with the two biggest at 38 1/2 and 37 1/2 inches, they were each 16.5 pounds. These two fish are my 2 Personal Best Pike that I’ve boated. There were also quite a few smaller fish, but they are all fun. Wed had winds up to 35 mph, and we fished 5 hours and only managed 8 Northerns, and no bigger fish. We left around 3pm to hit the river and try for a Sturgeon or two, that didn’t work out either.
Fishing was mainly throwing jerk-baits in 3 to 5 foot bays around weeds. Most of the fish, even the smaller ones, really inhaled these baits.
We stayed at the the Falls Motel, with hosts Kelly and Terry. This is a great place to stay, very clean, and Kelly can answer any of your fishing questions. Thanks Kelly and Terry for the visit, and please say hi to Larry, it was great visiting with you three each morning.

Sure was fun, and thanks Steve for making the trip.
Just sorry we had tough conditions, but we didn’t embarrass ourselves.
Jack.
