As we enter the late ice period I thought it would be fitting to discuss trophy Pannie hunting!! I love fishing big gils, slabs and perch!! Many fisheries up here have giant panfish roaming mud basins in search of a meal. This often presents difficulties for anglers as these fish are seldom structure bound rather roaming. Sharp augers and electronics are vital for success unless carrying lucky dice or rabbits feet. I love fishing with big groups this time of year as we most always outproduce single fisherman as the power is in the numbers. When fishing giant up north pannies fish a presentation that allows you to penetrate a slight slush in your hole as quickly getting on top of fish will be key to your success. I like fishing with the Diamond Jig through custom jigs and spins packed with maggots. I hole hop until I see fish. I swing my transducer around in the hole to see if fish are just outside my cone. If nothing is present I’M GONE!! Not event the best angler will catch fish that aren’t there!! Good Fishing Team!! Fishing GIANT SLABS, GILS and PERCH like it were the next Olympic Event!! Good dates still open for your group!!
SEE YA ON THE ICE!!
