Heat wave coming Daze, should get to minus 20 up there this weekend! Nice catch as always, you said it well in a previous post, God’s Country. Just not sure if I would survive a few more miles north, as posted already, the Croix is calling me big time, and she’s not taking boats right now (except for Everts, but I’m not de-winterizing yet). Going nuts here on the mid south end of the state, missing VNP in the spring/summer/fall.
You’d be alright buddy!! Just a couple extra pulls off the Peppermint schapps after Hot Chocolate swigs!! Cures what ails ya!!
The Weather Channel is doing a special with the Daze Camp to try to uncover what kind of crazy people inhabit this area ALL YEAR!! Hey someone has to do it!! WE LOVE IT!! Trust me noone likes 30 below though buddy!!! But… I know each year I WILL be able to run my snowmobiles, We WILL have a white Christmas, Kids WILL sing traditional Christmas songs during their Christmas program, and it is still OK to eat walleye, grouse, venision…. We’re old school buddy!! The thing I really really appreciate is that more and more people like yourself don’t take areas like VNP for granted. More and more people are self policing people on the water. This is Gods country up here!! I see T-Wolves from my living room winter over looking the lake. I jump Moose with my little Brittany spaniel hunting grouse. Deer are camped in my backyard due to heavy snow. Grouse are at the bird feeder. Bald Eagles and Loons will return home in our bay with the transition in seasons. Tourists will flock back the mighty Rainy Lake and Snowbirds will re-open their respective cabins for another summer at the cabin. People like the Queen and I along with their friends inhabit the area when people vacate. Our Mayor is great friends with us, and is awesome!! She, the “Queen” and another of our friends took a pic a couple years back in there BIKINIS in 38 below weather outside!! Thats FUN STUFF RIGHT THERE!! Truth be told if everyone decides that they should be here 4 seasons I’ll probably move farther north!! And I’m not that fond of Maple syrup!! LOL!!
