So yesterday I had a family fly in on there personal jet from Miami, Florida to experience the great winter outdoor experience of International Falls. They planned on staying for 1 day! Ice fish for 4 hours and snowmobile for 4 hours. COOL!! So they got in late, and weren’t really to fired up in the morning as I waited at the resort for them. We were planning on getting out on the ice at 9:00 am and fish until 1:00pm. 9:00 ended up turning into 10:30 am. The thrill of driving out on the ice had the Dodge Ram brimming with oohs and aahs!! I assured them most customers make it off the ice safely! Spooking customers takes focus off of catching fish!! LOL!! As we got to the shack a snowball fight and wrestling match broke out in which cut into our now 2 hour guide trip special!! Fortunately I’d had the house heating up since 7 am and everything completely ready to roll with rods on their respective chairs, vexilars down… I explained to the first Gentleman that the green blob is your bait, and wiggle it a bit every once in awhile then keep it still. As I moved to the next Florida Ice fishing “Girl” and lined up a special Daze Pink Jigging rod!! I heard what is a that big red thing?? As I tripped over backpacks… I watched his little jigging rod bend over. I said SET THE HOOK!! LOL!! (Are you kidding me?? Set the hook?? Heck I didn’t even cover that yet!! So I said “REEL” REEL!! REEL!! You’ve been there!! This isn’t a style show this is PRODUCTION!! After a few minutes of figuring out this seemingly backwards (Openface spinnning reel) we were making progress, and that Red Mark was coming up to take a gander at the inside of the “Daze Inn!!” the fish took approximately 1.5 seconds to make it to the hole this guys was reeling like it was the next Olympic Event!! I clamped my hands around a 25 inch walleye and proceeded to high 5 the whole Miami Ice fishing team!! Heck we were so excited we almost had to take the celebration outside!! After home video’s and pictures by all I was asked by one Florida Warm climate “Is the fishing always this good’ I replied “Of Course!!” Although sometimes there EVEN BIGGER!!

I know the feeling I had a guy from India out a few years ago, and as I was showing him how to set a tip-up a big pike took the bait, so I hand him the line and tell him to set the hook and pull it in .

he proceeds to pull the line like he’s pull starting a 200hp outboard well he hooks the fish and in about 3 pulls this 8 lb pike is at eye level with me and pissed

so after a little wrestling match on the ice with it, and a few cuts and scrapes to me as I try and keep it from going back down the hole, we get some pic’s and down the hole she goes.

then client looks at me and says, they told me that ice fishing was hard, the only hard part looked to be the fighting with the fish on the ice
