Any fishable ice? A couple of us are looking at a day trip up there to target pike in the daytime and eyes at sunset. ANy fishable ice yet in the bays? I would assume main lake travel would still be a no-no.

FYI – Rainydaze is off on a little vacation getting a tan so he might not respond right away. Hopefully some of the other local guys can chime in for you.

Here are a couple web cams looking out on Rainey. You could try calling the One Stop for more info while RainyDaze is off.

Most of the shallower bays have at least walkable ice but definitely not the main lake. We had a reasonably wet fall so the extra current might mean a longer wait for safe ice depending on how long and how much Boise draws the level down.

I’ll be out spearing tomorrow am and will try and post another report after that.

Thanks – and by the way….it is nice to see another spearer on here once in a while! Good luck!

We were on Jackfish Bay this morning and had about 7″ of good clear ice with an inch of snow cover in most places. I would imagine the same holds true for Black Bay.

The main lake is iced over from Birch Point at least to Bald Rock and probably past Island View but absolutely no activity of any kind on the main lake yet. It supposed to be around 0 or below with highs in the low teens for the next few days so if the snow holds off the ice could make some decent progress. However it’s rare that there is much activity on the main lake until closer to Christmas. You can check the Daily Journal online to see if they have any updates on ice conditions.

You left out the best part……you see or get any good pike?

    Good call

We saw a couple small ones – 22-23″ & 27″ and my friend was hungry for a meal and took the 27″.
