It’ll be worth a trip up, trust me. Rainy is a pretty special lake and it should be for many, many years to come.

    Nice report Steve!!
Rainly Lake is definately one of the premier walleye and smallie lakes in the state hands down. And lets not forget all the other species that Rainy has to offer.
When I was a kid, our family made an annual trip to Red Gut Bay for years for mainly the muskies. As I was just a tad too young to sit and throw big baits all day long, I chose to dock fish in the bay and caught some really big crappies. I had the resort owners down on the dock with me several times a day taking pictures for his brochure and office! I caught about 10 a day, but boy were they briusers. They would rival Upper Red’s high end caliber right now!

Since then I have only been back a couple times in the past 6-7 years and boy do I miss it. My wife and I are thinking of coming up for a week this year in mid-June. I have a friend that is going to let us rent his house for a week right on the water up there. Should be fun. With all this talk, summer sure looks like a long ways away.

Thanks for the nice report Steve!
    Keep um’ comin!

    Deezee,
    Thanks.
Red gut bay has a lot to offer and has some great all around action from ‘eyes, smallies, muskie and crappie. Mid-June is a great time for shallow water ‘eyes and smallies. You might want to try to locate the crappie school near porters inlet or crow rock inlet.

    Take it “deezee”
