Heading to Rainy today for a week. Wondering if anyone is willing to share some tips on the hot bite?

I was up there last weekend and the bite was slow. There was a big cold front that went through while we were up there. The fishing did start to pick up a couple of days after the front. I would think it would be good now.

We were there a couple of weeks ago. We had our best luck rigging leaches and crawlers on the reefs. I know kinda sounds like generic info but that was where we found them. We did mark a ton of suspended fish in deeper water but I didn’t get to pull lead and cranks. I can give you the areas more specifically via pm if you’re interested.

Only been up there once in August. Had great luck fishing in 17-25 FOW trolling bottom bouncers with spin n’ glows, and smile blades.Try leeches, minnows, and worms to see what the fish want. It was fairly windy when we were there but we ended up having our best luck in the American Narrows. Best piece of advice, would be to get a lakemaster Rainy/LOTW chip, might save your prop or hull.

I will be up in two weeks. Same week as last year. This time last year leeches were not available , but we did well on crawlers.

I just got back this past weekend. Overall, fishing was good. Classic Rainy patterns….fish were on the reefs and mainlake breaklines. 26-33fow. Fished mostly with jig/shiner or chub. However, did catch fish on Slow Death and Lindy Rigs. Word around camp was that everyone was using different baits(leeches, crawlers, shiners) and all were catching fish.

Had a hard time catching fish for shore lunch…too many fish in the slot. I actually caught myself complaining about catching too many big fish, and not enough eaters
