Never been to Rainy Lake on the MN opener. Any thoughts? Is it considered a good opener lake? Baits, tactics, depth?

    Thanks!

Can offer fantastic fishing for Walleyes and Pike up shallow!! I like to throw jigs and plastics or suspending baits like the Max Rap. Lots of big fish!!

if your after pike… a late year like we are having.. texas rig a 5 inch white twister tail with a small bullet sinker.. you want this thing to fall just fast enough to get the tail twisting… find south facing shorelines that are fairly deep with timber on them or brush in the water.. cast right to shore let =bait fall.. this has been a go to tactic for my boat up there over the years with colder water..

something to try when water is cold and nothing seems to be working..

    buy some tieable leader material..
