First Ice!!

First Ice is much the same as the open water fishing opener or the first morning of the Rifle season. It’s the first crack at big fish beneath a thin window of glass. The sight of a big Walleye or Pike sliding into view under the clear ice is something that never truly leaves the memory bank of an “Ice Head”. There are lots of guys that “Talk the Talk” and a few that actually “Walk the Walk”. I’d suggest taking a walk on the cold side this December. Last year our first ice mission found our S&D team scattered over some inviting shallow haunts. The look on Tuckers face in this picture as he got a glimpse of this 28 inch Walleye is truly priceless and serves as a reminder of WHY we do it. What a fun day!! It was kind of like taking the opening kick off of a football game to the house and spiking it in the face of Mother Nature!! It Set the tone for the entire game. I assure you we won’t be taking a knee as December rolls around up here. Lace-em up boys!!

If you don’t OWN that feeling Tucker has while in the heat of battle with a beast……..You don’t currently harness the passion for pigs. Passion drives the soul of a man to fish. Those who haven’t experienced this feeling…….Have no idea…..YET. There is no words to explain that moment.

At this moment you might have heard Tucker YELLING like a school girl……….GRAB IT!! GRAB IT!! GRAB IT!! all the way to Kettle Falls as this brusier shows her true girth and we attempted to encourage her to the 8 inch circle of trust. 5 grown men are now found gathered inside an Otter portable fit for 3!!

The climax of all of our early season homework is the accomplishment of barbing a beast taping 28 inches while merely covering a 8 inch diameter in fishery of 227,000 acres!!
