Just in case anyone thought guiding was simply about catching a “Super Tanker”; Today serves as another reminder of how great our shared passion of fishing can be when shared with others.
These two characters were married back when Rapala’s were all hand carved and when global positioning involved grandpa’s triangulation of Granite piles and Jackpines. Some of my favorite customers put a morning smile on my face as they held hands on the way to the guide boat. The less promoted passion withing fishing continues to bring people together. Many times groups of grown men or corporate retreats fill area resorts and guide boats. Stories are told and laughs are had. Guys falling out of boats and snapping rods. Quite often Dad’s take the kids and you can feel the excitement in the boat as a little boy grits his teeth trying to reel in that big fish!! Still I’d say in the whole scheme of things what’s most moving to me is when after all the years and everything they’ve been through and seen……Good ole Grandpa and Grandma shoose to create new memories on the water sticking fish!!
Don’t we all want to be those guys!!
