Take a moment this morning to remember why as outdoorsman we embrace the cool mornings of fall. Many of you are in your office as you scan my morning “Henpecking”. It’s the real time nature of social media’s such as IDO that allow men and women with like interests to connect on a daily basis. Some of you have 8 more hours to punch the clock before heading into Saturday’s small game opener. Here is a cruel reminder…….those 8 hours MIGHT drag by.

    What’s fall to YOU?

Here at the “Daze Camp” Fall is simply a couple months of action packed days chasing game and netting elite caliber fish. The thought of…….Not enjoying time in the woods or on the water is clearly an epic fail in every sense of the meaing. The now crisp mornings start with fog needing to be burned off the lake before anglers can safely travel to big Walleye haunts. Sumac and birch has changed to a brilliant yellow backdrop as I walk down to the boat with an extra skip in my tired steps of summer. Those once baby ducks I’ve watched since June are now of out in the bay or flying in formation as the drakes show off a brilliant Greenhead in the morning sunrise. Big fish move into the “Wheelhouse” of many anglers while bibs and jackets are buttoned up for a cool ride in the boat.

Fall is a time where guys and gals shut the television off and enjoy the wonders of the “Northwoods”. Chasing birds and stumbling across sheds. Checking for deer sign while breaking in your new hunting boots that seem a bit tight. Our hunting dogs gets to play in a pine studded playground while you and your friends are able to rid yourself of the endless “Hustle and Bustle” of today’s world.

I urge you to grab your backpack and get off the beaten paths this weekend. Bring your over/under out and lock and load some brass. Go beyond the well traveled trails of life and be willing to leave tracks in areas where the average man never will find. It’s the simplistic nature of being a part of something much bigger that not only humbles a strong spirit, but soothes your soul. Teach your kids the appreciation for what life offers you that remains free of charge.

We’ll see you in the woods team……We’ll be the ones responsible for that lonsesome shotgun blasts beyond the easy traveled ATV trail.

Best of luck with a sincere cap tipping to each and every man and women lacing up hunting boots or putting a bend in your Walleye stick this weekend!!

    Live Large……Live Well………LIVE FALL!!
