What I’ve noticed in the month of August is the importance within picking your spots wisely. It seems that when things are going full throttle in July you have multiple areas producing at very high levels. In the “Dog Daze” of August fishing continues to be at an elite caliber, but positioning for the days success can be a bit more critical. The last couple outings have proven to be just that. Recognizing a producing pattern has allowed us to quickly duplicate this holding pattern on other structure. Getting those fish to bite is of course different than locating them. What anglers often fail to realize is that those certain characteristics of the structure holding fish will often need to be present in the next location to attract the similiar large pods. The Walleyes seem to be on a good Crawler and Leech bite. We had one Walleye hit the boat yesterday coughing up 6 leeches.
Keep this in mind when your out fishing boys. Place emphasis on precisely the bottom content of your fishing locations that are producing a bit more than the knowledge of simply depth and shelves. This might narrow the search and in turn widen the window of activity for your crew.
