OK…..LONGTIME promoter and believer in Powerpro. I’m officially converted. Took from April until now to convince me. Suffix 832 is fantastic and NO WIND KNOTS in my boat all year.

I’ve been hearing this more and more from folks that are trying other lines.

I was using the 80 pound hi vis for years ending up with fingers full of yellow powder and white line by the end of the first year.

Switched brands and haven’t looked back.

Chris can you share your thoughts on why you like the 832 vs other braids?

    Thanks!

Wondering if the 832 Hi-vis green holds it’s color or does it just bleed and fade away?

It fades some, but the second year it is still very visible.

832 does fade a bit. I like 832 for pitching and verticle jigging walleyes but my cat gear still has power pro until I can find a 20lb hi vis that is better.

    Chris,

How is the 832 holding its line color for you?

I like the casting/handling characteristics better…It doesn’t show the wear of other braids… I have a couple spools of 6# that have made 9 (week long) trips blading Pool-4 and fishing Smallies/Walleyes here, still looking good!

BTW… new(2013) Sufix 832 in HI Vis Yellow is out there and available guys.

I tried 832 last year and was disappointed with its durability. For jigs it was good, but for cranks it wasn’t. If you’re bouncing a crank over rocks the line will get eaten up. The wind knot situation with much, much better compared to regular power pro … the difference was that with power pro I could usually pull the wind knots out, but with 832 I would often end up with damaged or even broken line from trying to get the knots out when I got them (which wasn’t often but did happen to me, at least).

I tried the power pro super slick at Dean’s recommendation and it’s been better yet. I still have 832 on two rods and it’s good line, but I like the PP super slick much better in general for summer fishing.

There are two situations in which you won’t beat 832. First, if you need a sinking line you should get it. Second, in the winter, you won’t beat 832 — the stuff is great in sub-freezing weather!

    Just my experience.

Good info John…I always use mono for shallow cranks and fluoro for med-deep cranks, so I haven’t encountered those issues.

Chris , I ran 832 last weekend up there ,and Tuck had Fireline Crystal I believe it called. It white fireline we got from Dean For colder temps. Anyway What I like about the Crystal was when I got snagged just I would just lose the jig and not Flourocarbon leader,as with the 832 it seemed I would lose leader most the time. Both lines were tied to Flourocarbon with same Knot. Other than that Definitely like 832 over power pro for jigging or casting.

I was a longtime user/supporter of Powerpro. I liked that it held up in weather and was great for casting. Over the last couple years I’ve grown tired of wind knots that form in the line or even find themselves on the tip of your jiggin rod. Line isn’t cheap these days and I don’t want to re-spool several times a season. Many of these wind knots have to be cut out leaving you short of line.

Sufix 832 has the same no stretch features of other braids, but compared to Powerpro is a bit stiffer. This seemingly has prevented those annoying knots. I use White Sufix, so I can’t comment on colors lasting in weather. The Suffix also has not been fraying like other braids will. It looks precisely how it did the day I laced it up in April. In the world of Social mediums……I “Like” that.

Seems to be the best line on the market for me. I use it DAILY and no problems with high performance. Strong, durable, low diameter and NO KNOTS!!

I have seen NO durability issues with Sufix 832. I run jigs through rocks DAILY. Haven’t even seen a single fray all season? Wind knots……NONE for me versus one a week before with PP. Just my opinion, but I’d wind Sufix on my reels given all the current choices. Colors??? Seems most braids lose coloring after some use, but I haven’t used a colored Sufix.

If I wanted to use Sufix 832 with 8/10 lb fluor. leader what pound test Sufix should I use on my spinning rod?? Should I use 20 lb or 30 lb?? 20 lb is still only 6 lb mono diameter.

Mainly use it for walleyes/bass (plastics).

I would suggest 10lb test. 20lb IMHO is a overkill for that application.
