I’ve always wondered how guys motivate themselves to achieve greatness. I’m just a fishing guide, but there are times that I get a bit tired. I go through a rather funny ritual each morning in which I am able to motivate myself and in a way fish with with some Swaggar. Seems crazy I know. Motivate to……… fish?? I set high goals for myself and being tired or wore down rarely aids in overall achievement.

Here’s kind of a behind the scenes shot as the Captain cools all 300 ponies on Rainy Lake at 7 am while heading to Thunderbird Lodge for a guide trip. It’s Sunglasses, 300 Ponies, Driving on one Knee, Tinted windshield and Listening to Springsteen from Eric Church…..LIVE IT!!

Stay thirsty my friends!! Fish With Attitude!!

BTW 35 Walleyes EXCEEDING 20 inches today!! Best I’ve seen all year.

LOL!!! Everybody amps themselves up in there own way. I take 15 minutes each morning on my way to the resorts to put my game face on. I believe it is how fishing changes when you become a guide. I LOVE to fish, yet fishing becomes a bit more like tournament fishing as a guide. You have 8 hours to put good fish in the boat. Yesterday no matter how good or bad it was…….Means nothing. This is a “What have you done for me lately biz”. Frankly…….I like that, and it keeps you on your toes!! You can never get complacent, and if you do this lake will humble the best of the best.

    Roll on team!!
