Through the eyes of our young anglers!!

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with many inspiring anglers. Each morning that excited handshake of a young boy or girl at the resort dock puts even a bigger smile upon my face. I always tell mom and dad……The KIDS………Will likely catch the most fish. They fish side by side with the Captain and are always kept busy as possible. Yesterday was no different. 2 young boys standing by my side listening to shouts of REEL REEL REEL!! Nothing BETTER!!

I’d like you to take a quick gander at the smile on the face of “Lil Texas” as he peers over this giant pike they landed.

As a boy I was taken in by the allure of catching fish. Those eyes and focus on the prize help a guide lace up the boots each and everyday.

Congrats on the big fish bud!! We make one heck of a good team. Please let me know when your book signing will take place at Thunderbird Lodge. I’d like a copy for myself.

Agreed!! We take great pride in our efforts to share the passion of our chosen sport with the youngsters. Possibly the biggest compliment I’ve ever received came the otherday. The gentleman looked at me and placed his arm over my shoulder and said “Chris….We’re here because you are able to transfer your passion of the sport of fishing to other anglers so well. We want our kids to enjoy the sport as much as we do.”

That hit home. He doesn’t know it, but behind the sunglasses of this fishing guide were a few tears. We give it everything we’ve got day after day and nothing is more appreciated than words of that nature.

Sounds like you got a few more kids hooked on fishing. We definitely need as many kids as we can get to love the sport ,and to appreciate the need for clean waters in MN.
Goodness knows you help Tuck have the itch. Heck he just bought his own first boat and he is only 15 and cannot even drive.

The simple sport of angling; From the early days of my youth everything around fishing excited me. Plucking dew worms with Grandpa while storing them overnight in an old Folgers can with some fresh grass was a big deal. As a teenager those fishing trips to various resorts in Northern Minnesota served as the highlight of each and every summer break. As a young man the in depth studies of fish movements and behaviors seemingly pre-occupied me on a daily basis. Now as a grown man I can say the simple sport of fishing; Inspired me, kept me out of trouble, provided a lifetime of enjoyment, built me a career and will surely save me. I guess…..It’s NOT just fishing.
