Yesterday morning is a prime example of what Walleye anglers DREAD!! A widespread cold front swept through “borderland” dropping surface temperatures and demanding extra layers for fisherman. Mid 40’s and a driving wind and rain made you feel like you were earning it!! During Breakfast at the Thunderbird Lodge my friend Ryan and I discussed how with our customers how we’d expect to fish very methodical due to the front. We’d focus our efforts on current seams and try target the warmest water we can find.
The Blair Witt crew frankly did VERY well beating a cold front. Nobody in the party including the two guides had hopes too high considering the inclimate conditions. Still yesteray found these anglers pulling lots of big fish and a number of keepers for the pan. Biggest fish included (3) 24’s (1) 25 (1) 26 and (2) 27’s. I believe there is still a debate going on in regards to the “Top Dog” taping a 27 1/4 out of “Sho-TIme” LOL!
Such a wonderful group of men enjoying a day of Walleye fishing despite the fury of “Mother Nature”.
Ryan and I worked Pulse-R’s and Paddletails and our customers worked either jigs and minnows or plastics.
Pictured here is Blair Witt with a………..27 1/4 inch Walleye earning “Top Dog” on the trip!!
The Crew enjoyed a Walleye dinner at T-bird choosing to have the “Catch of the Day” prepared by the lodge.
Look forward to next year Men!!
