Seldom to I lose sight of truly how lucky I am to be successful within the sport of fishing. Though I’ve wore different caps in the world of business I must admit my good ole trusty fishing cap is the one that seemingly fits me best. Waking up with a hot cup of coffe here on the majestic shores of Rainy lake is a dream come true. Attempting to piece together a big fish puzzle on a daily basis is the only form of stress allowed. Having daily adventures in which groups of fisherman come along with me sharing the same passion is beyond simply rewarding. I can’t possibly thank are fisherman enough as it is truly YOU allowing ME to fulfill a boyhood dream.
I always said I would guide until it became a J…O…B. I’ve seen what happens when it’s just a job, and it’s not pretty. I believe desire and passion continues to bring customers our way. If I ever lose that desire to burn through the back channels in a driving wind, or take one more cast over an active pod of fish, If I ever dread meeting that new fisherman at a Sha-Sha Resort, If I ever would rather eat at home versus a Walleye meal at Thunderbird with customers,. If I lose the satisfaction of “HOOKING KIDS” on the sport of angling, That I VOW will be my last day. I’ll tip my hat to such a special career. I’d go out on top of my game.
Thanks to you all!! You can’t replace passion. Passion and desire within your chosen career drive you to greatness. The true paradigm of success revolves around the willingess and true desire to succeed at something you love to your soul!! At 21 days in row of guide adventures this morning I did a gut check stumbling down to pour another cup of coffee; I started gettin “jittery” thinking about hucking baits again (Could have been the Coffee) !! I guess I still love it!!
FRANKLY I LOVE FISHING!!You know how you can work months on end without a break……When your mind and body is convinced your NOT at work!! As young boy slinging jigs from shore, As a teenager studying the Lindner video’s, as an adult CRAZY about our next fishing trip, and now at 39 years of age a licensed Captain on Rainy Lake……OH YEAH…………I LOVE IT!! LET’S GO FISHING!!!!
I hope you too……..still LOVE IT and LIVE IT!!
