Your fishing rod

Over the years I’ve had the fortune of placing high quality fishing rods in the hands of my customers on guide trips. RARELY……has a customer who fished with an elite caliber fishing rod perfectly matched for the presentation we are fishing not been impressed. In fact most of the time those same customers have that “AH HA” moment when they feel something they never did with there rod. We’ve all been there. I love watching customers faces on the first cast, jig and hookset.

I would suggest each angler try upgrade one stick when the budget allows. I would attribute my personal “Magic Wand” NRX from Loomis as providing me with a distinct advantage while fishing day in and day out, shoulder to shoulder with customers. In fact that stick has literally made yesterdays “GO TO” rods feel very cumbersome and soon for sale. What I can detect with the NRX rod from Loomis has me shaking my head throughout the year. So….take it for what it’s worth, but to me it’s worth a LOT!! Last year I had 1….YES 1 of my favorite NRX sticks in the boat in which I shared with customers. I soon realized this meant I didn’t get to fish with it much!! LOL. This year I’ll have 4 and I’ll admit that is as much for my personal benefit as my customers!! LOL!

You owe it to yourself, but don’t try one unless you want to own one……..IT’S THAT GOOD.

I have to agree Chris. I have been slowly creeping up the rod ladder and every new one get improves my fishing in one way or another. The hidden benefit is the smile on my wife’s face when I tell her how much the rods cost

LOL!! I tell my wife “Hey hun a guy needs to put some meat on the table!!” Not sure if SHE…..Is “Buying” into it. I will say that SHE has rather expensive tastes when it comes to fishing rods as well!!

You know the old saying: Once I have passed on, I hope she does not sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it.

It is true that you get what you pay for when it come to the finer fishing rods.

    Well said Chris!

I had a “Ah Ha” moment of my own just last week while pitching with a new to me St. Croix Legend Extreme…Although I crave moments like that, they sure do get expensive!

I agree but also think that that there is a point of diminishing return.

IMHO – The NRX has passed that point.

Since I rarely launch the boat without at least one child and never without at least one dog on board….a $400 rod is a bad idea, really bad. Too much chance of converting a one piece into a two piece…..
