A couple days ago I ran into Billy D from Rainy Lake Houseboats. I couldn’t help but think of the times I’ve spent on one of his floating condo’s over the years. From personal family vacations, and film shoots to In Depth Outdoors fishing excursions!! Burning steaks on the Grill or just relaxing on your own private island within the vastness of Voyageurs National Park. Though I’m a true blue Ice fishing finatic I’ll admit the thoughts of floating in a hot tub as we tour the wonders of Rainy Lake always brings a little smile to my face. Maybe it is a 7 day escape from the “Hustle and Bustle” of todays world that attracts people. Maybe it is the majestic “Blue Waters” that Hamms’s Beer made famous, or maybe it is the simplistic Granite formations and endless undeveloped shorelines we all like to explore. What I do know is that one of my fondest memories is the first time I was able to tour Rainy Lake from the top of the flybridge on one of Rainy Lakes Houseboats. My wife, daughter and I soaked in the hot tub watching the endless Pine studded islands pass by. The “Fishing Queen” sipped wine with James wife while the Great Oz of IDO proudly played captain as he proudly navigated our cruiser through the Brule Narrows. For guys that have sipped a morning coffee as the morning steam rises off the lake, or ladies that have spent a lazy afernoon reading a book while floating an umbrella in a drink; There needs no further explanation. There are things in life that the outdoorsman in us all must experience, and this certainly is one of them.

Rainy Lake Houseboats = Summer fun on Rainy Lake in STYLE BABY!! LIVE LIFE THIS YEAR FELLAS!! Real life is always better than pics!!

Here’s your sales pitch men. “Hey Hun…….I’m sick of Granrud posting big Rainy Lake fish pics. BEYOND THAT….I truly want to take you and the kids on a beautiful and extravagent “UP NORTH” outing. I know Tenting isn’t really your thing, so HOW ABOUT………..How about I treat the WHOLE family to a floating condo tour of the Cool Blue waters of Rainy Lake. I know I KNOW!! You can thank me later……I’ll be in the basement lacing up my fishing rods!!” OR Talking to Granrud online about what tackle I need!!

This is PRIME booking season for our resorts and Houseboats here on Rainy Lake. It would be WISE if your going to tour these waters to lock in your dates. We’ll see you on the water team!!

I have to agree. There is nothing like it. While my crew goes up in May and we don’t get to enjoy the summer weather, fishing Rainy on a housboat is the best thing you could ever do. My friends say” When we check out from RLB is when they start thinking about next year”.

JP…….If I recall correctlly you put the barbs to a pretty nice pike last year on your trip. Is that the pike in your profile pic??

Billy,Cathy,Joey,Wendy, Tommy and the rest of the staff at RLHB works hard to make sure your trip is very enjoyable.

Chris I could only manage to get a 42″er last year. Still looking for one over 45″. What is neat is that I caught 2 smallies on a rock in a foot of water then I casted to the deeper side in about 3 feet of water and the pike was waiting. Love shallow water action. JP
