SUPER TANKER!?! Yes sir THAT is a Super Tanker Ryan. Congratulations on your PB Pike!! This may be the biggest 38 inch Pike I’ve encountered. The head and stomache on this beast were out of this world. I had to measure it twice being sure she would tape 40 inches. Still this massive 38 inch Pike was VERY HEAVY!!

We are on both a ciscoe and Perch Pattern currently. There is no question the pinpointing of these two dominate forage species has been a huge part of our big fish run we’re on!! We also pulled several low to mid twenties Walleyes today again. Great job Ryan and we’re as happy for you as you were to add it to your big fish accomplishments!! I’ve pulled my share of big pike out of the hole over my career, but this fish had me questioning my sanity. BTW this Pike nearly took off my fingers as she snapped her jaw shut coming out of the hole!! ANGRY OLE GIRL!!

    Of course CPR’D effectively!!

It was truly awesome to be in the shack with Ryan as he hooked into that beast, the look on his face was priceless to say the least when he realized what he just did! After the couple minutes he was fighting it as I was ready to land the beast, Ryan got a glimpse of it and we gave it a second thought, “It’s time to get Chris”, I suggested and Ryan quickly agreed. Our faithful guide sprinted over and dove in the shack like he was reliving some childhood dream of stealing home base. Then he was face to face with a big pike as I shot a amateur video from over the shoulder of him trying, and then succeeding at pulling the fish through a hole that wasn’t quite big enough. The excitement level for us was unreal and the high fives and fist bumps started instantly. Got some awesome pics that Ryan won’t be able to forget, and of course made a excellent release to let this fish grow for someone else.

I can only start to say how good the trip was even though the bite may not have been stellar. We all caught nice fish, either walleyes or pike, and I think Chris and I both missed a fish or two that may have caused some lost sleep… It was very fun sharing the shack with such a knowledgeable and “sometimes” comical guide for a couple days. Thanks again Chris for the excellent service from start to finish!

For any of you who follow these forums or see the action on the Rainy Lake forum, I know you’re all thinking of giving Chris a call and I strongly suggest! This was my fourth trip with Rainy Daze Guide Service, and I know I will be locking in a annual winter trip from here on out to ad to my open water trips. Guaranteed good times will be had!

I will try to get my video clip to Chris soon for some slight editing and hopefully it can make it up here for some good laughs for all!

Thanks again Chris, can’t wait to get back there in May!!

    Good Morning Nate!!!

I’ve always enjoyed fishing with you and the boys summer and now winter. Though we landed some big fish I of course wish we would have landed………MORE!! LOL!! That was an awesome Pike and both you and Johnny landed great Walleyes. Both you and I lost a BIG WALLEYE. Honestly that fish I lost right at dusk was a huge Walleye that I am still thinking about. High in the water column at nearly dusk up and down….Up and down and BANG!! It was a huge fish that I popped out on!! Frustrating on one hand and FISHING on the other. As a fishing guide your either a Hero or a Zero when you target these big fish. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it no doubt.

Consistency is what it takes to land numbers of big fish. We’ve had another special kick off to the ice fishing season, but still have had guys NOT catch the fish they were looking for. Frankly it is the Fish that DON’T make it to the hole or the days that don’t go quite as planned that make the the sweetness of landing the true beast that much better.

In your trips up here Nate you boys have truly landed a boat full and Otter full of monster/Elite Caliber fish. One thing I CAN guarantee is that our faithfull customer base will land big fish with us. NOT EVERYDAY….THOUGH I’D PREFER THAT. BUT QUITE OFTEN!!

Couple other big fish on your trip and then just a few highlights from summer beatdowns that will make you lose sleep until opwn water!!
