I didn’t want to hijack the post over on the ice forum. Over there you mention that they have closed down the flow on the dam. How long does that last? I know Rainy has currant but with the gates on the dam closed / partially closed it would reduce the flow. How long do they remained closed? Does it last until the spring melt starts?

I’m asking more in regards to safely snowmobiling Rainy then fishing.

I should say there is VERY little flow right now. I can’t say the dam has all gates shut. There surely is still some current and the dam is going to draw down the lake even further I suspect. I do know we are out of the rule curve at this point, so I’m not precisely sure how that plays into things. What I do know is there is going to be MUCH less current this year than last. Yes Sled travel will be more safe as well. It is always good on the stakes of course.
