Yesterday in all honesty was one of those times you simply need to admit stumbling into fish. In search of further elite caliber Walleyes we ran into a transitional holding area for BIG and aggressive Smallmouth Bass. The shallow current fed shelves held these magnificent “Bronze Footballs” while the Rock/mud transitional zones held our walleyes. Again the purple and white 3/16 oz. H20 precision jigs seemed to outfish everything else in boat. If your fishing without Purple and white or Blue and white in your box in the 3/16 oz size your selling yourself short. wwwbfishntackle.com

Burning through the fog from my house to the resort confirmed once again I own the best office space in the state of Minnesota. I started my trip off today with a nice breakfast with customers staying at Thunderbird resort located directly across from Rainy Lake Houseboats. I do most of my guiding through both of these beautiful resorts located on the pristine shorelines of Rainy lake, and located very close to good fishing!!

Fishing was a bit tougher yesterday though we still managed around 30 walleyes between the 3 of us. I guess it is funny how times and expectations change us as anglers. Not many years ago catching nearly a “Triple Limit” would be considered a banner day. I have a sneaking suspicion those boys will be back after those big Smallies in which we left to search further spots to utilize for the rest of their stay!! Frankly……..Can’t blame them a bit!!

Thanks for the wonderful trip men and enjoy the rest of your stay at Thunderbird Lodge!!

I couldn’t agree more! Those colors are dietary supplements for the river Smallies down here. Saddle either of those jigheads with a Great White paddletail and you are golden.
