I’m a bit perplexed in all honesty with our blitz of 16-16 3/4 inch walleyes this season. Literally for most of the summer our “Keeper” sized fish have been just beautiful fat walleyes. Again yesterday a 12 fish limit with our customers Scott and John; Of our 12 walleyes we had (1) 15.5 inch walleye with the remaining (11) walleyes between 16 and 16 3/4 inches.
In years past I’d always made a point when catching a 16 inch walleye in explaining how that is truly the coveted walleye on Rainy lake, and quite possibly one of the toughest sized walleyes to come by. Well this entire summer we continue to experience the best of both worlds with lots of big slot fish and perfect shorelunch candidates.
Our weather looks to be in for a big change come Tuesday of next week as we will trade our mid 80’s we’re experiencing currently for high’s in the low 50’s and lows in the low 30’s!!
MAN UP!!
