I’m planning on fishing our infamous Crappies on the Houseboat trip this year!! For those in attendance or putting their group together you might want to bring your “Donk Whipping Sticks”. Looks like our timing will be very good!!

I look forward to meeting everyone on our fall trip!! Big Walleyes and Pike…….OR BIG SLABS!! I’m alreadly losing sleep!!

In all honesty to locate these Crappies a fishing guide for at least a 1/2 day will be your best bet. You will rarely run into them on accident. Our Crappies are located in certain areas this time of year as they begin to chase lake shiners up shallow. Our Cribs are tough to find and frankly pretty wore down. I’ve yet to fish any of the Rainy Lake “Manmade” cribs with success. I have both Thursday and Friday off in which I plan on hitting the SLABS!! As we get into Fall there are a few of my select walleye spots that have those big ole slabs mixed right in with the walleyes as well. Some of my most fun fishing is in mid to late September slamming SLabs and Walleyes one after another!!

    Hi Chris,

Are you targeting the slabs on the Minnesota or Canadian side of the lake? Do you see one side being better than the other or doesn’t it matter?

    Thanks

Welcome to IDO!! Both sides of the lake hold big slabs. We focus our efforts right here on the US portion of Rainy lake.
