Welcome to IDO!! Their will always some big bass that remain shallow in certain areas of Rainy lake. Recently we caught some very nice bass in Cabbage beds of all things. It would be my belief the 8-20 foot rock piles adjacent to shore would hold the bulk of the good fish.

In regards to the Ifalls Bass Tournament; This is a very popular tournament here in International Falls as well as a very well attended event by our whole community. Fun for the whole family. Come on down and share in the fun. I’ve considered entering the tournament for a couple years, but literally is tough to even find an opening. Fellow fisherman and friend Dave Peterson is very involved running this tournament and does simply a fantastic job promoting the event.

Get a Guide for your 1st day if you’re new on Rainy.(JMHO) I have been there the week before and the week after the big Championship and it can be very, very tough fishing this time of year…not to mention the typical Smallmouth areas are loaded with Pike… we lost about 40% of our bass lures in a week one year to those toothy critters…

Okay we have narrowed our Campsites down to three areas, of course depending on openings, either Saginaw Bay area, Blueberry Island Area, or a litter further east by Anderson Bay, would any of these areas be better than the other for the Big Bass, would also like to boat a few of those nice eater walleyes, and find some of those slab crappies I keep seeing posted on here, so which area would be the best locale for all three….Thanks for any input
