Well let me backtrack!! I’m not sure this was the “Official” honeymoon, but at the very least our webdesigner Chad and his lovely bride Gretchen opted for a little R&R on Rainy Lake. I’ve worked with Chad since February as we completely re-designed our website. BTW he is a MASTER with whatever you want to do with your website. The two are simply class-acts. It was a pleasure sharing the boat with them as they begin their lives together, and from a fisherman’s perspetive what could be better than starting it FISHING!! BTW if your WIFE likes to fish I assure you that you get to go more often!! Play your cards right boys.

We had a wonderful day of “Catching”. Gretchen is a self proclaimed “Fair Weather” fishing gal. We even listened to music in our Corvette styled fishing vessel “Sho-Time”. For all the guys out there that plan on bringing there Gal fishing with us…..Rest assured we always hit a campsite mid-day for a little relief!! Think it is silly?? I assure you for any gal that goes fishing it will make her whole trip more enjoyable when you let them know at noon we hit shore for a few minutes!! I know my wife aka “Fishing Queen” makes me PROMISE no matter how good the fishing is!! I believe Gretchen mentioned that she’s fished for walleyes on one other occassion. After a brief 101 on what to expect she picked up the sport very quickly!!! Look out Chad….She’s going to be good at it if she wants to be!! My simple opening ceromonies instructions; “The bites will be very subtle due to the Mayfly hatch….Let the rod load up a bit by gently lifting up gently if you sense resistance. When you feel even the slightest extra weight GIVE IT THE BEANS!! Hook-Sets remain the one thing in life That are FREE!!” That was the only encouragment she needed as she immediately began “Ripping Lips”!!

Gretchen held the lead for biggest walleye of the day with a beautiful 23 inch fish before Chad “Silly Chad” was unable to shake off this 25 inch Rainy Lake special in the closing minutes of our trip. We put a very nice limit of “Honeymoon Walleyes” in the boat in which I like to believe was Rainy Lakes wedding present to the newly wed couple.

Congratulations to Chad and Gretchen!! May the rest of your lives be as filled with joy and happiness as your livewells are filled with walleyes.

Thanks for a fantastic trip Chris! The perfect choice for our Mini-Moon. You already hooked Gretch, she asked me this morning if we can come back and do this every year!

We went from fishing in the poring rain the first day to one of the best days of the summer the next. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.

I promise I’ll work on my net-man skills for the next time I’m up and Gretch wanted me to let you know that the T-Ball games will be played today

No prob on the Net job Chad!! That big pike simply had her way with us!! Surely we’ll get her next year. Congrats on the nice fish and enjoy your meal of Rainy Lake walleye. Look forward to next year. Bring back the bride!! I’m pretty sure she actually DOES like walleye fishing, and is pretty darn good at it too.
