Stay safe on the Water this weekend.

Traditionally there will be an influx of boats that hit Rainy Lake this weekend as well as other waters throughout the state. As we celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends PLEASE be safe on the water. Each year it seems somebody makes a careless mistake that endangers both themselves and other boaters. Alcohol is often a major influence in boating accidents. I assure you there will be increased enforcement on the water for good reason. Have a wonderful weekend and I urge you if your going to “Set sails with Captain Morgan” or go down south to “Margaritaville” PLEASE designate a DH to captian your boat. We’ve got plenty of unmarked hazards already on this massive body of water. Boating while intoxicated is a very lofty offense, and beyond that kills every 4th of July holiday. I sincerely hope the only ear piercing “Bangs” we hear this weekend will be high in the sky. Boat to boat or boat to granite is an awful sound.

I encourage both locals and visitors alike to take a laid back approach this weekend. Landings may have a few extra people launching. People who might not get out that much could have a an issue starting their boat or backing it in efficiently. SETTLE…This is not tournament day. Not everyone hits the landing 6 out of 7 days a week. Show your Red, White and Blue pride. Help a friend out at the landing, Wave to fellow fisherman, and even if just for this holiday weekend….leave the hustle and bustle of todays world back in the city. I assure you it will be waiting for you upon your return.

Get out on the water this weekend everyone!! Walleyes are biting, and the water is warming!! It’s summertime in Minnesota Baby!! LIVE IT!!

    x1000!!!

We already had our first of the 4th of July weekend just 20 minutes to the north of me last night. Pontoon and jet ski; one fatality, no more details, really don’t need any, we have all the facts in one word…. fatality

Life can change so fast. Very sad. IMO we need every boater out there to be on the lookout for reckless activities over holiday weekends. There simply isn’t enough enforcement to curb the issue. As I’ve mentioned earlier by no means do I want to end the fun of the weekend, but accidents can happen so fast. Many will surely pay for poor decisions for the rest of their lives, and sadly innocent people also can be hurt or even killed when others suffer from alcohol induced…..”Brainmelt”.

Great post! Don’t think for a second that you will be Wiser while drinking and being the Captain of the vessel your in. I have said thanks more than once when T-man was a little shaker and people would help us at the landing. Love when we can help out now that he is older. Have a great weekend

This “Wise” feeling can also lead a couple guys into buying a resort….far beyond simply helping out at the landing.

Ready for you boys to come up Andy!! Will shoot timeframes for this fall shortly!! Can’t wait. Woodpile is looking nervous.
