Regular customers are really what it is all about as a fishing guide. I can’t begin to explain the enjoyment we have fishing year in and year out with our returning customer base. Frankly many of our customers have simply become great friends. Both the memories and stories we shart while in the boat make my job one of the best in the world. Well today Shawna “The Texas Scoop” which we nicknamed her last year………. did it again!! Last year she set her sights on a PB Walleye and put the hooks to a TANKER!! This year our focus changed a bit to Big pike. Earlier in the day I stuck a flat out TANK!!! We hadn’t put a big one in the boat and I could sense we needed a lift. The renewed interest was fun to watch, and watching Shawna land this awesome 40 inch pike a couple hours later was as rewarding as it gets in the Fishing Biz!! The big “Jack” worked her hard burning drag while circling the boat. We had 5 people in the boat, so trust me this was a bit of a circus making sure the fish didn’t tangle lines. I hollered “CLEAR THE AISLE TEAM!!” I then instructed Shawna to try make her way to the front of the boat, so we can saddle up this beast. She made it up front and handled that fish like a true pro!!

Congratulations Shawna!! The “Texas Scoop” strikes again. I know you received your Trophy walleye from last summers trip not long ago, but there is no shame in running a line of credit at the taxidermist!! Just sayin

I can’t help but smile looking at your face when you were laughing and screaming “I CAN’T LIFT IT!…….While I’m Saying LIFT IT!!” LOL!!

Man, you’re having too much fun! Knock it off. Actually, check that. Keep it rolling. We’re coming down to the last couple weeks before the Houseboat Get Together and I’m looking forward to slugging it out with some of those big pike!

Thanks for the shot of excitement. 13 days and counting.

Looks like you could rename your guide service ‘Granrud’s Gym’ with all of the lifting you make your clients do

    Nice fish – grats

    That is fun!! LOVE THAT!!

Any guide will surely agree life is GOOD when the big fish are cooperating with your way of thinking!! So happy for Shawna on yet another trophy!! What a trophy pike for a gal who rarely gets to fish them.

You might remember her trophy walleye CPR’d last summer that she made a replica of. Personally I think a replica of that Pike would look pretty nice along side that Walleye!!
