Coming up next week for 5 days and wondering if the eyes are still in shallow. I plan on fishing Jackfish bay as we have done well the last few years there on memorial weekend.

We have also done pretty darn good for pike and larger ones also.

    Thanks for the help

    Hi Tom,

Shallow mud bottom bays have been nearly void of good fish lately. Our big fish have been relating to emerging Cabbage beds adjacent to scattered rock piles or sand versus bull rushes in most mud bottom bays. In the last few outings we have had much better action in main current “Neck Down” areas playing the wind or current with the best scattered boulders rather than the larger pressured bays. These areas are seldom fished at all!! Both big pike and walleyes love to utilize this broad leaf cover to ambush smaller meals. Fortunately both Lakemaster and Navionics skimmed over some Prop elminating areas and have not marked many of these signature early season hot spots which we work.

Have a great trip Tom!! Get yourself on those emerging Cabbage lines and hold on!! Water levels started out in great shape, but we’ve had Zero rain as of late. This has made some spots simply a bit too shallow now for the walleyes in the brightness of the sun.

Here’s nearly 45 inches of walleye hitting the Frabill at the same time!! 26.5 and 28 inches!! Current+Emerging cabbage+ Wind bucking directly against the flow = SUMO RAINY LAKE DOUBLE!! Congrats Boys!!
