Chris, you sure seemed to have folks excited about fishing with the kids in their lives! Great photos of proud moments for everyone.

Photo of my son’s first laker. Hooked for life? You betcha!

Couldn’t think of anything I’d rather see people both excited and proud about than their kids. Now Kids Fishing……That is a bonus!! Welcome to IDO!! Great first post of a flat out TANKER LAKE TROUT!! Who wouldn’t be hooked after wrestling with that beast.

This is 4 year old Ike. It’s been a dream come true to watch him get interested in fishing, catch ’em, and now he runs the boat. His little buddies all want to come fishing with us because they have nobody to go with. We need to step out there–few others will!

And it’s not all about the boat–bank or dock fishing can be an easy, less-stressful way to take youngsters for fishing time.

Thanks Chris for the important topic!

It’s great to see so many taking our kids out to enjoy the sport of fishing.

There are so many kids that simply do not get that chance to go fishing and I am sure would love to get out.

A few years ago I was wondering what to do with some fishing rods and reels that I did not use any longer.

There is a parent in town that likes to take his 3 kids fishing but simply cannot afford to do so.

I donated 3 set ups to him for his kids and some tackle so they could get out and fish from shore.

It is such a good feeling to help other kids out so they also can enjoy the great outdoors.

My father enjoyed fishing but he did not have the time to take us much as he was always working to take care of the family.

We had a neighbor that would take me out alot and I owe him alot for taking the time and effort to teach me what he did.

Keep up the great work all.

Off to a fantastic start gentleman!! I am very happy to see guys taking the effort to get kids out on the lake. It is my hope that by posting these pictures and having kids see themselves on our website that this will be a small step enhancing further involvment in the sport, and also attract more youngsters to a lifetime of good clean fun. Heck maybe some kids didn’t even know…..FISHING IS COOL!!

Lets keep these pictures rolling as we all hit the open water shortly. Great job team…..Awesome job kids!!

To add to my thoughts on getting kids on the water. Scott makes a very valid point. Heck when I was a kid most of my fishing was on shore. You can get a lot more kids out fishing when they can run around the shorelines or even off a dock/fishing pier.

Tom has also made a great point. Not every parent will take the initiative to introduce youngsters to a life on the water. I suspect most of us hear cherish times we spend with a fishing pole in our hands. The fact of the matter is many adults were never exposed to the outdoors or possibly they work weekends and truly don’t have much spare time…. With a little effort we all can take our kids friends or neighbor kids out for a couple hours. Take it from a full-time fishing guide there is little more satisfying than watching others enjoy what has brought so many good memories in your own lives. Seeing the glow of a fisherman sticking a big fish is very rewarding, but knowing your able to influence a young mind in a positive way is priceless. Yes………FISHING IS COOL!!

    You know it does Brian!!

Trust me when we have fish in the well I often have that lid open half of the day as the kids are simply overjoyed looking and touching the fish. Beyond that MINNOWS will gain the attention of a little one for a LONG LONG TIME!!

I usually take the youngest child by my side on a guide trip. They normally catch the most fish!! I have seen the older brother or sister….Get a bit cranky. Still the competitive nature surfaces, and all of the sudden that older child is working the bait pretty intense!!

Don’t be the judge of your kids “Trophy” A trophy fish is in the eye of the beholder. If you know that is the first Perch, Pike, Walleye…..Get pics!! Put the pics on the wall. Let them tell the story of what it took to convince that fish. Let them OWN that story!!

Brian, I love the photo. It’s a classic. Time in the boat with Dad.

When we talk size of fish with kids, my oldest grandaughter who is 9 just lights up when I asked her if she caught any fish at the cabin.

She was so excited the first time she caught a walleye even if her dad helped her pull it in and it was 17 inches.

It was just awesome listening to Taylor tell me about how she caught her first eye.

Then she goes on and on about the panfish of the dock. This winter I built her a brand new pink rod and she is getting it this weekend for Easter. We have a Easter egg hunt and her fishing rod will be one of the finds.

It’s great to look at all the photo’s and see the big smiles.

Just think if every young lad had the chance to catch a fish and smile like these kids above.

Many of the kids out there may never have the chance as a youngster to go fishing.

Just think if we all took one day and spent some time on the water with one of those less than fortunate kids.

We can make a difference to many if we only take some time to do it. Nothing better than making one day brighter for a youngster.

I still remember the times my neighbor took me out fishing and that was close to 45 years ago.

I really enjoy taking young kids out as their smiles are better than any fish I could catch.
