OK Gentleman!! For a couple years I’ve tried to launch a “Kids Corner” with frankly mixed results. I’m going to shoulder the blame for a lack of consistent effort on my part keeping new posts and topics. I am once again going to create an area in which IDO members can highlight kids who have taken a interest in fishing. I’m asking for some help on this one guys/gals. I believe the quest of hooking more kids is worthy of our time. Please spend a minute or two to get a picture of your kids fishing this year!! They DO NOT need to be with a trophy fish. They can simply be Dad/Son, Mother/Daughter, Grandpa/Grandson, Neighbor/Kid……..On the water/Ice……….FISHING!!
I’d like to challenge our IDO members/Staff and even Lurkers to STEP UP for our kids!! Lets keep enough posts coming on this thread to keep it on top of the Rainy Lake forum……….Maybe the TOP THREAD ON IDO!! Why shouldn’t it be?? I assure you this will need a universal involvement as I happen to lay a lot of smack down when I soon hit the water!! I believe our children need the introduction and passion we share for our beloved sport. Furthermore I believe our beloved sport of angling…….NEEDS OUR KIDS!!
I promise you I will do my part highlighting kids in our guide service along with special write-ups of trips featuring Father son fishing expeditions or similiar trips.
Here is what I do know. FISHING……..can keep kids focused on good clean fun. FISHING keeps kids off the couch. FISHING can put a fresh meal on the table. FISHING is a sport that can involve the whole family.
So please take a quick pic of your little “Chillin” of any age or dig up some old ones to start. Let your little guy or gal log in and see there pic on IDO!! BE CAREFUL!! Kids are very internet savy, so don’t kid yourself. Pretty soon they’ll be finding your next hot spot or digging up present flow conditions on the river!!
For my first highlighted Picture I simply have to put this picture of my good friend Andy and his son Tucker!! Many of us know them as A&T here on IDO. These 2…….FISH!! Whether on the Ole Miss or up here on Rainy Lake you’ll see those mugs hiding behind quite a few big fish each year.
Kudos Andy (Search and destroy member) for Hooking Tucker…. who is now likely teaching you a thing or two about the river!!
FULL SPEED AHEAD TEAM!!
