Tried Conneaut again this morning with a friend, but could not find the Smallmouth on this trip. We fished the same area that I fished last week, but only managed to get one to the boat. He was a very confused 3 lb. fish, he thought that he was actually bigger than he was. He was caught on a Vibee. We tried drifting Shiners, but we didn’t get a hit. My buddy brought a couple of Sheepshead to the boat on a Vibee and I also lost a few more fish. I figure that they were Smallies, because you never miss Sheepshead. I did catch a 10 lb. 4 oz. Walleye on the Vibee though.
The high point of the trip was the Perch fishing. We pulled our limit in about 4 hours and the fish were hugh. We were throwing back 9 1/2 ” fish. I would say that at least 10 fish were pushing the 2 lb. mark. We were fishing in 36′ of water and using bass sized Shiners to catch them. All-in all it turned out to be a good trip.
