Hi all,
I said from the beginning that I would post accurate fishing reports, so that means the bad as well as the good. Unfortunately this will not be one of the good reports.
I fished the Rocky for Steelhead on Sunday and Tuesday this week and I couldn’t buy a bite. The water conditions were ideal, a nice green color and about 18″ of visibility. I was fishing live bait under a float for the most part, using Emerald Shiners, jig/maggot combo, and spawn sacks, but I didn’t get any takers. I fished the fast water, slow water and the in between water. I worked the current breaks and the back eddies hoping to find some fish at rest, but no luck there either. I did see a couple of fish landed on Brown Stonefly imitators, but I was pretty lazy this week and didn’t bring the flyrod with me.
I rained pretty good in the area on Tuesday night, so the rivers will be blown out until at least the weekend. I’ll give it another try on Friday. I’ll post the results on that venture when I get home.
Wes
