Devils Lake by Perham Questions

Family vacation the week of July 19th on Devils Lake by Perham – never been there so wondering if anyone has fished it in July and what’s the word on the lake?

Kids will want panfish and that should be straightforward enough. Notices off the DNR site that it’s a very clear lake with a nice size population of stocked walleyes. Are they catchable in mid summer? Lake looks to be a bowl off the map on the DNR site so assume it’s weedline fish or open water.

Also – is there a decent bass population and what kind of weeds are prevalent? Pads? Cabbage? Coontail? Pencil reeds?

Gathering ideas so I don’t pack the whole boat w/ fishing gear and leave no room for the kid essentials…

    Thanks in advance!!

Devils lake is full of enough panfish to keep the kids busy. Never fished for bass although it looked like it should be a good bass lake with alot of reeds if I remember right. I think most of the walleye fishing that time of year takes place during the evening hours with some big fish in the lake. Havent personally fished it in years but it used to be a fun lake to fish. If you dont find what you are looking for there, there are many lakes within a short drive to try also. Have a great trip.

Wish I could help Ted, but have never fished the lake – honestly, not quite sure where it’s even at? I’ll do a little investigating and let you know if I come up with anything…….

    Enjoy your trip….

    Thanks Mikey!

4 miles NW of Perham just off 10 – pretty small lake.
