I have been going up to my Grandparents lake home on Little McDonald Lake since I can remember. Growing up it has always been great Walleye/panfish fishing, however, I have really gotten into bass fishing in the last couple years in my home town area (La Crosse WI fishing the Mississippi).

I have never had great luck catching good quality bass on Little McDonald. I am heading up to the lake home this weekend and want to hit some different water and get in on some clear water bass…does anyone have any suggestions for a good bass lake that is small in size (easy to fish) and within 30 miles of Perham…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Island – Great smallmouth and largemouth and monster sunfish as well. A little ways away but Dead lake is a excellent choice as well.

Right across the road from little mac you have ruschi lake which holds some nice fish. Also little pine and big pine lakes hold nice bass also they dont have numbers but they do have some nice fish. Dead lake down past richville is a fun lake to fish for numbers of bass with a few nice ones mixed in the bunch. Hope this helps.

I’ve fished Star and caught some very nice bass. Good Luck.
