It’s been awhile, so thought I better get a report posted. Most of our guests have been ‘living’ in the lake the past few weeks with the major heat wave….so I haven’t gotten a lot of first-hand reports on the fishing. However, the lake couldn’t be nicer for swimming, skiing and tubing….
As for fishing, good numbers of perch were caught last week in 5-6 fow using a plain hook and fathead minnows. Many perch in the 9-10″ class were common. The walleyes are FINALLY starting to hit crank baits….the trolling bite is a bit late this year and should only get better as we push toward August. #5 Shad Raps have been producing the best in a variety of colors on the flats in 4-10 fow. Bottom bouncers with spinners/crawlers are also putting fish in the boat off the weedlines in 18-25 fow and the mid-lake humps.
The trolling bite was phenomanal last year in July, looks like it is going to be August again this year due to the late Spring.
