A good friend of mine hit the water Saturday with my son Drew (left) and his son Carson, both age 6 and recent kindergarden graduates… The young lads didn’t disappoint – they were on quite a roll putting fish in the boat with their jig-n-shiner combo, only to be chased off the lake by a brutal west wind. In just 3 hours on the water here is a portion of their catch. Look for many more pics of these 2 Young Guns in the years to come…
Water temp is currently 56 degrees on OT and the walleyes are still active on the gravel flats. 1/16 or 1/8 oz jigs tipped with a shiner continue to be the most productive.
Worth mentioning also is the size of the perch this year – numerous 10″+ perch are being caught, even a few 12″+ are coming in. Haven’t seen numbers of perch this size in quite a few years.
