My dad and I spent a few hours yesterday afternoon in the search of a few slabs. We tried a few places and finally landed one that produced a crappie within minutes. We anchored up and managed to boat 9 crappies, and missed at least that we also got quite a few bonus catch fish. Colors that seemed to work the best were orange/black/brown. We caught the fish in about 7 fow using bobbers set about 3.5 feet down, trying to stay away from the eyes. The water temperature ranged from 44.1-46.2 degrees in the spots I fished.
