Leaving a wheelhouse on URL.

I plan on putting my new wheelhouse out on URL as soon as driveable ice gets here. I would like to leave it up there for a while – like a month or so. What places (if any) are a good, safe bet to leave the house out on the ice unattended during the week? My fear is to come back up on a weekend and find the house drifted in or slushed in, or finding that the road had been moved on me during the week. It is a pretty big investment for the family, so I want to be sure our bases are covered. Some kind of assurance that the road plowers would keep it plowed free…..

If on-ice is a bad option, are there any options where a guy could leave it stored on shore somewhere to avoid the towing?

Most road owners/plow drivers are going to ask you to pull in if you are going to be gone as we can not plow to every single house every time it snows or drifts as ones with people get first priority then the rentals get next then if we have time “abandoned” as we call them will get plowed out upon request.

I know if you use Hillmans road they let people store the house on shore during the winter to help prevent the problem of houses left on the lake. Many times people will leave a house by the road on Sunday and by Wednesday we have moved the road a mile or more around bad ice or pressure ridges so either your house now becomes the one farthest away on the wrong side of a old sunken road or the one that is sitting in the middle of the new road we are plowing around when you come back. Not to mention I have seen houses sink and flood two feet deep overnight with the right conditions, now that is tough on any investment.
